The Fire Breath, officially known as either Flame Jet (火炎噴射/火焔噴射?) or Flame Emission Kaen-Funsha (火炎放射?), is one of signature attacks of some incarnations of Kaen-HōshaGamera and other monsters. It may be also refereed as the Fire Blast on some occasions. While "flame emission" is etymologically common in Japanese, "Flame Jet" was introduced by the Gamera franchise both in Gamera's Song and Gamera March along with the Spinning Jet.
Gamera[]
Showa[]
Showa Gamera feeds on fire, electricity, lava, coal, oil, and nuclear material, all of which contribute to his ability to generate thermal energy, which he uses to sustain his bodily functions, propel himself into the air, or spit a stream of fire from his mouth. Unlike normal fires, Gamera's flame doesn't cease even underwater and outer space.
Gamera: Super Monster[]
Heisei Trilogy[]
Gamera the Brave[]
Toto as a hatchling emits a small but condensed ball of fire both in the film and novelizations.
2015 short film[]
It is the first revival of the attack on screen since Gamera: Super Monster in 1980.
Similar to the High Plasma used in Sapporo against the Legion Plant in Gamera 2: Attack of Legion, Gamera strongly inhales the air enough to cause strong winds, and charges the attack within his mouth, and releases it.

- ↑ Seaguns (on Ko-fi), August 16, 2020, I was commissioned to color this scan from the book "I Am Strong! Gamera" ("強いぞ!ガメラ"). Proposed by Noriaki Yuasa, "Wyvern" would have done battle with Gamera in the unmade film "Gamera vs Wyvern." I'm not certain of the orginal artist so if any of you know, please do tell, Twitter (X)
